It is one thing for you to say that you have faith, but it is another thing entirely to actually step out of the boat that you have been drifting on the waters of life in and walk on that water. No one claims that this is an easy feat, but when you are called by the Savior to come to Him, you can not sit in the safety of the boat. The waters of life are full of peril and storms, but the Master of all creation controls these waters, and when He beckons you to follow Him, you have nothing to fear.
The others trapped in that boat will tell you that it is a perilous journey to step out and walk towards Yeshua. They will tell you that it is impossible to walk on the water and that you will sink and die. They allow their fears to control them, and even though they acknowledge that the Savior is there, they are not willing to put their faith into action.
When Samuel was called, he responded, “Here I am.” When Abraham was called, he responded, “Here I am.” Do you know where that boa of yours is taking you? Your boat may be heading for some falls spilling over the cliffs of life, and Yeshua is calling you. Will you say, “Here am I”? And when He calls you to step out of the boat and come to Him, will you be too afraid and remain in that boat, only to perish while going over the falls?
Your heart may want to step out, but until you break free of the chains that have you imprisoned there in that boat, you will never enjoy being with the Savior. There will always be some excuse, some logical reason, and some person to blame as to why you are not able to step out on that water. There is only one person who can ever loose those chains from you and that is yourself.
Think of these people that Yeshua healed that could not walk before that. What if when He told them to arise and walk that they laughed at Him and never got up? Do you think that they would have been healed? Yeshua does not care what you hold against yourself or what any one else holds against you; He only cares who you are and what you can be. He can take anyone and turn them into a new person. But He can only do that if you will step out of the water.
There is peace and safety when you reach the Savior. His guiding hand will lead you to dry land. Trusting Him completely means that you will put your life and being into His hands, and even when the world is shouting at you to stay in the relative safety of the boat, you will have no second thoughts about walking on the water. If you have second thoughts, He may not call you again. If you are worried about others that are in the boat, then you will not heed His call. If you look back to the boat once you have left it, you will sink.
Each and every person has to make the decision to stay in the boat or to get out of the boat and follow Yeshua. Just because someone else does not choose that, even though they may be near and dear to you, they are not worth missing your calling. You must stay completely focused on the Savior or else you will lose sight of Him and sink. You must not allow anything or any one to distract you and cause you to avert your eyes from Him. The freedom that He gives you is worth more that anything the world can give you. Do not let your heart be troubled and step out into the water, and walk with confidence that He who has called you will see you safely through.
