RENDER UNTO GOD THE THINGS THAT ARE GOD'S

I wrote this during a storm. Today we are once again back to storm and tornado watch until five this evening. Natural this time of year.

My God's In The Storm

Oh, God above me, In my minds eye, I seeYou, The one who rides the high winds.
And realize yet once again, at the time that things began,
You moved through nothingness, deep, dark, empty space;
Through myriad untold empty universes, Your words create,
Make all there is as on the wind You race.
You are the God of Creation, My refuge, God of the storm.
This time of year, Lord, there are many storms, the dark is all around me.
Sometimes in fear I have watched the interplay of light and dark chase each other through the night.
But, there is also beauty in the storm as Your lightning lightens up the sky.
Waves of thunder rolling all around, Natures music,
Sometimes I imagine it's Your voice, God, such an awesome sound.
Huge waves of black, dark clouds roll in, leaving things in deep pitch night and my heart pounds.
I can't see the way before me, and the voice of thunder my minds reasoning suddenly drowns.
Then suddenly the sky is bright, a kaliedascope of color lightens up the sky.
Yelows, reds, purples, blues, greys, and blacks flash against each other,
Terrifyingly beautiful, giving from nature a feast for the eyes.
I see violet sudenly turning fom blue back to purple, Gods royal color,
Your blessed garment trailing the sky;
And am once again reminded that God's in the clouds, God's in the storm, God's in the night.
And He wil not let my heart be overburdened with fright.
With the last roll of thunder, last lightning flash, God clears the heavens, sheds light on my path.
The earth is refreshed, my spirit reborn. I'm so glad to know that my God's in the storm.

Should've had sense enough to keep copies of what the newspapers termed seeming miracles. It would have made good short story content. Janey posts writing exercises om my writing group which are supposed to teach discipline. Sometimes I just don't want to do them because they aren't what I'm used to having to do. Guess thats part of the discipline. Life is full of getting used to's and acceptances of what we aren't used to. Like storms, a lot of things come unexpectedly and I'm trying to tell myself that discipline will help in a lot of areas. The old can learn.

Amen. When hurricane Rita swept through Louisiana I was very concerned for my beloved Hope. She had gone to wrap things up in Lafeyette and she worked as a manager in a book store. While I was on my knees praying that GOD would keep her safe the hurricane managed to tear off most of the roof of her apartment building. There were shinglers there days before who had left piles of shingles over top her area of the roof. When the storm had passed some people had to evacuate but she was one of the fortunates that still had her roof so she could keep her apartment. The LORD works in mysterious ways. . . Even her phone still worked. Praise GOD!

I think that during Katrina I was the mosrt afraid I'd ever been of a storn. It got the blackest I'd ever seen; holding my hand before my face, it was invisable in the dark and mighty roar of the wind, hearing things flying through the air. There was no electricity and the dark was something that had to be accepted. Yes, I prayed. The next day there was things strewed all over, my roof blew away but we were lucky here. Nobody died from. One woman told of her housetrailer lifting and setting down about a yardspace away. The article was in the paper. She stated that God set it down, only minor damage and she didn't have time to be afraid. I liked that she gave God credit. I like knowing that no matter what; God is with us.

Delete Comment Very well put Ruby... amen.

God is in the storm... in the wind, and with the mighty roar of thunder... He unleashes, His rain upon the earth. Too cleanse the air, and hearts of men. There, He upons the skies with lightenings display in heaven, His glory to reveal. That men should not fear... His thunder, is but a call too hear. God is near, nearer to thee, in the... Storm.
